Inter-County - Gold recap Nov. 7, 2012
Everett's Barkley Rhoat recorded the longest rushing play in Inter-County - Gold this season in his game against Central last week. Rhoat's team lost to the Dragons as he sprinted for 96 yards on the play and finished with 112 in all.
Northern Bedford County moved up to 246 from 282 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Punxsutawney 27-21.
Mt. Union's dynamic duo of Kahlil Fortson and Jamal Smith proved tough for Penns Valley Area to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fortson threw for 183 yards and one touchdown and Smith had 93 yards receiving. Kord Aurand helped Mt. Union's passing attack out by catching four balls for 44 yards.
Northern Bedford County's Blake Over and Kyler Diehl have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Over has thrown for 1745 yards this season, while Diehl, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 47 catches for 751 yards. Chad Speigle from West Branch leads the league in rushing with 1504 yards.
The Warriors and Williamsburg played the most hotly contested game in Inter-County - Gold this week, with the Warriors eventually emerging with a 23-22 victory. Speigle ran for 106 yards in the win.
