The Lewis County Minutemen are taking a road trip to take on the Lincoln Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Lewis County's win against Bridgeport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Minutemen won by a run and slipped past the Indians 11-10. That's two games straight that the Minutemen have won by just one run.
Ashley Crook made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits. Crook was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Lewis County got a big performance out of Courtney Boggs, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Boggs a new career-high. Audrey Starcher was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Lincoln got the win against Robert C. Byrd on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-5. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by nine runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Riley Pearlman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Addie Moore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Lewis County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lewis County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lewis County suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Minutemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
