Basketball Recap: Woodgrove's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Woodgrove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 59-55 W over the Briar Woods Falcons. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

It was another big night for Dane Marsh, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards. Marsh is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Roach, who posted 14 points.

Briar Woods' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josh Winklosky, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points, and Devon Pettibone, who had 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Donatella, who posted nine points and three steals.

Woodgrove's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Briar Woods, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodgrove will challenge Loudoun County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briar Woods, they will square off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Briar Woods likes a good challenge.
