This season hasn't been kind to The Jefferson County Warriors, who are still winless after their tenth game. They were outmatched by East Laurens on the road and fell 51-15. Jefferson County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as East Laurens apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Zay Boston had a dynamite game for East Laurens, rushing for 167 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 160 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyan Snead, who gained 122 total yards and a touchdown.
Jefferson County's loss was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-1 Thomson and 13-1 Swainsboro (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.2% over those games). As for East Laurens, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.
Jefferson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Laurens will head out on the road to face off against Bryan County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bryan County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully East Laurens likes a good challenge.
