After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Salmon, the Leadore Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 58-46.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leadore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Herbst, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Herbst is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Taylor Ayers was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Leadore pushed their record up to 2-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 31 of their last 35 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 115-438-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leadore has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ririe at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Varsity Opponent will take on Brazosport Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Brazosport Christian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
