Basketball Recap: Will Stovall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kerr-Vance Academy over Halifax Academy

Kerr-Vance Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Halifax Academy Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-48 back in December of 2024.

Kerr-Vance Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Stovall, who posted 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Stovall a new career-high in points. Jack Wiggins also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Halifax Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Peoples led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Peoples is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Thad Harris was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 17 points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Kerr-Vance Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Halifax Academy, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.

Kerr-Vance Academy has already played their next contest, a 74-21 loss against Harrells Christian Academy on the 25th. As for Halifax Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 86-42 defeat against Fayetteville Academy on the 25th.
