Basketball Recap: Ashley Ridge Piles Up the Points Against Beaufort

Ashley Ridge had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 44-point drubbing they dealt Beaufort on Friday. The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes blew past the Beaufort Eagles 83-39. That 44 point margin sets a new team best for the Swamp Foxes this season.

Leading Ashley Ridge to victory were Clayton Everett Jr and Ben Duncan. Everett Jr went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and five steals, while Duncan went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Everett Jr is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Pj Brown, who posted six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Ashley Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Beaufort lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Samari Bonds, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Cleckley, who had eight points and six steals.

Ashley Ridge pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Beaufort, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Ashley Ridge will host Fort Dorchester at 8:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Beaufort, they will venture away from home to take on Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bluffton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Beaufort likes a good challenge.
