Northwest Halifax Collegiate & Technical Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Daveion Richardson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Jermauri Evans, who shot 47% from the field on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Richardson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Williams, who posted 12 points.
Meanwhile, Louisburg came up short against Franklinton on Friday and fell 48-38. The Warriors have struggled against the Red Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Northwest Halifax Collegiate & Technical Academy will need to focus on slowing down Micheal McLean, one of several Louisburg players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 42.1% of Louisburg's points, marking the fifth time in a row McLean has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Blacknall, who had nine points.
Northwest Halifax Collegiate & Technical Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Louisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Northwest Halifax Collegiate & Technical Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 46.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Louisburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
