When it comes to explaining why Thomas Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Sampson. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Torel Clark, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deep Run to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quentin Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last nine games he's played. Kemji Onyiuke was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Thomas Jefferson's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for Deep Run, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will square off against Hermitage at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermitage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Thomas Jefferson in Virginia (Hermitage is ranked 42nd, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 264th). As for Deep Run, they will head out on the road to challenge Glen Allen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
