Softball Game Preview: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights vs. St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights will take on the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond made easy work of Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] and carried off a 21-4 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond got a massive performance out of KARALINE VANAUSDOLL, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave VANAUSDOLL a new career-high. Another player making a difference was ANNA RAWLINS, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are 8-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Joseph-Ogden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Villa Grove with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

St. Joseph-Ogden has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
