The Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Speedway Sparkplugs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with ten defeats in a row, Indianapolis Shortridge turned things around against Providence Cristo Rey on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Wolves. The Blue Devils not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 17-3).

Bryce Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Indianapolis Shortridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Indianapolis Shortridge let Jorge Tobito and Brody Herrmann run wild. Tobito got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Herrmann went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Tobito has posted since back in April of 2025. Josh Pena-Mendez was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Indianapolis Shortridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Speedway came out on top against Monrovia on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Sparkplugs skirted past the Bulldogs 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sparkplugs have posted since April 11th.
Speedway got a massive performance out of Jordan Strong, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Potter, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Indianapolis Shortridge's record is now 3-10. As for Speedway, their record now sits at 6-14.
Indianapolis Shortridge couldn't quite finish off Speedway in their previous matchup back in May of 2019 and fell 4-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
