The Cotter Ramblers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They blew past Wabasha-Kellogg, posting a 75-30 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-17.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ileana DeAngel, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 50% of Wabasha-Kellogg's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brielle Adams, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Wabasha-Kellogg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Cotter's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Cotter will be playing at home against Esko at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Esko is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, they will head out on the road to square off against Fillmore Central at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
