West Grand is 7-1 against Plateau Valley since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The West Grand Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Plateau Valley Cowboys at 1:00 p.m. West Grand is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, West Grand faced Vail Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Grand claimed a resounding 44-14 victory over Vail Christian on the road. The result was nothing new for West Grand, who have now won seven contests by 30 points or more so far this season.
West Grand found their leader in underclassman Blake Terryberry, who rushed for 91 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. West Grand also got help from Jackson Steinle who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, even though Elbert scored an imposing 44 points on Saturday, Plateau Valley still came out on top. Plateau Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Elbert and snuck past 46-44. The win was just what Plateau Valley needed coming off of a 62-40 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Virgil james Kuper, who rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 65 receiving yards. Bode Satterfield did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 35 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped West Grand to 8-0 and Plateau Valley to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for West Grand against Plateau Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 44-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Grand since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
