Softball Recap: Sunset Finds Playoff Glory Versus Grant

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sunset walked away with it. They never let the Grant Generals get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Apollos have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Gianna Micciche and Shelby Townsend did most of the damage at the plate: Micciche went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Townsend went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Micciche has posted since back in April. Claire Townsend was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grant only posted an OBP of .125.

Sunset is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. As for Grant, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

As of now, neither Sunset nor the Generals have any future games scheduled.
