East Rockingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demetrius Arrington led the charge by rushing for 286 yards and three scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Arrington is now averaging an impressive 115.4 rushing yards per game. East Rockingham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Arrington and Alex Jerrells. Arrington also rushed for 286 rushing yards, which is notable because East Rockingham is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Broadway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 10th. They breezed past William Monroe to the tune of 39-0 last Friday. The Gobblers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tanner Hinkle and Jayce Suters. Hinkle rushed for 102 yards and one TD while Suters rushed for 99 yards and one score on only seven carries. Those 102 rushing yards gave Hinkle a new career-high.
Broadway pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points over those games. As for East Rockingham, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Arrington and Hinkle.
