The Cheektowaga Chargers will head out to take on the Williamsville North Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cheektowaga has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Williamsville North will arrive with three straight victories.
On Friday, Cheektowaga didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Shore and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Chargers have lost by just one run.

Aubrey DuVal put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs.
DuVal wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daviana Anthony, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Anthony is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another was Maddison Belliotti, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Williamsville North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Frontier 3-2.
Karah Bainbridge was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia Schwartz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Williamsville North pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cheektowaga, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Williamsville North's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Cheektowaga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Williamsville North, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Cheektowaga keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Cheektowaga couldn't quite finish off Williamsville North in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
