Volleyball Recap: Irvington's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After a string of three wins, Irvington's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Moreau Catholic Mariners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Tuesday.

Moreau Catholic found their leader in sophomore Lucas Dong, who had 11 digs and three assists. Dong is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Brennan Cacao also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Moreau Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Irvington will venture away from home to challenge James Logan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games James Logan has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Moreau Catholic, they will face off against American at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
