After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pine Creek, the Rampart Rams were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They snuck past Fountain-Fort Carson with a 56-52 victory. This was payback for Rampart, who suffered a 89-38 loss the last time these two teams met.
Avery Pe?a had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emily Huxtable, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Fountain-Fort Carson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keira Mitchell. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Mitchell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deja Lynch, who scored six points along with two steals.
Rampart now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rampart will take on Vista Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Vista Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
