Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask ITW David Speer Academy). They put the hurt on the Rauner Wildcats with a sharp 17-5 victory on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Pride sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Santiago Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, ITW David Speer Academy let Jonathan Pena and Keryel Figueroa run wild. Pena scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Figueroa scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Figueroa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Zuno, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
ITW David Speer Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
