Williston and Dixie County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Trenton hit Williston with a seven-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 11-1 to the Tigers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 6, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Dixie County made easy work of Branford on Tuesday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Connor Corbin was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other pitching news, Trey Lawson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Dixie County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Dixie County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Williston, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dixie County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williston beat Dixie County 6-3 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
