The Athens Indians were the 62-31 winner over the Concord Yellowjackets when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Athens lost to Concord on the road by a decisive 49-33 margin on Friday.
Concord found their leader in underclassman Bradie Lehman, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Lehman hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Cieara Barrett, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Concord, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to face off against Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sand Creek is coming into the matchup with six straight losses at home, meaning Concord will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
