Libby Kosmowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Elise Prelewicz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Briana White was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Williamsville South was able to grind out a solid victory over Sweet Home on Tuesday, taking the game 5-1. That's two games straight that the Billies have won by exactly four runs.
Alyssa Budzinski was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicole Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noelle Jurkowski, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Williamsville South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Williamsville East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Williamsville South, their record now sits at 13-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Williamsville East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Williamsville South struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Williamsville East came out on top in a nail-biter against Williamsville South when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flames since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
