The Taft Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Northside with points to spare, taking the game 50-33. Given Taft's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Northside is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Grace Brumley, who scored 23 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Elena Gonzalez, who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Taft's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10. As for Northside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.
