The Astoria Fishermen had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 61-40 margin over Tillamook. Astoria has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.
Several Cheesemakers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Hilton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Adrian Vogel was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Tillamook struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Astoria pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Tillamook, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria and the Lions will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Helens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Fishermen are ranked ninth). As for Tillamook, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Seagulls at 7:00 p.m.
