Petra Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Foothills Community Christian Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Petra Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine back in November.
Petra Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past Mt. Ellis Academy with points to spare, taking the game 33-19.
Petra Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Hornung, who scored 15 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Anna Woodberry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Foothills Community Christian took a serious blow against Centerville on Saturday, falling 62-27. Foothills Community Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-12.
Despite the loss, Foothills Community Christian had strong showings from Kimber Koteskey , who scored 5 points, and Kalli Koteskey , who scored 5 points.
Petra Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Foothills Community Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Petra Academy lost to Foothills Community Christian at home by a decisive 39-21 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Petra Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
