Basketball Game Preview: Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears vs. Harbor Teacher Monarchs

Port of Los Angeles and Harbor Teacher are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will venture away from home to take on the Harbor Teacher Monarchs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Port of Los Angeles is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Back in December of 2024, Port of Los Angeles was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Hawkins. The Polar Bears were up 37-22 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Port of Los Angeles might have lost, but man, Jared Maldonado was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. Maldonado is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adham Samir, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Harbor Teacher unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to Legacy 44-40.

Port of Los Angeles' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Harbor Teacher, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Port of Los Angeles beat Harbor Teacher 61-52 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will Port of Los Angeles repeat their success, or does Harbor Teacher have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
