The Weld Central Rebels will be playing at home against the Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Weld Central, who comes in off a win.
Weld Central can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They managed a 42-36 victory over Brush. The victory was just what Weld Central needed coming off of a 69-21 defeat in their prior game.
Weld Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Phelps led the charge by scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Ontiveros, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-28 loss at the hands of Eaton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Valley has suffered against Eaton since January 22, 2019.
Weld Central's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Valley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6.
Weld Central lost to Valley at home by a decisive 45-30 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Weld Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
