The North Knox Warriors will take on the Center Grove Trojans in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in North Knox's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
Last Friday, North Knox didn't have quite enough to beat Rensselaer Central and fell 59-57.
Despite their loss, North Knox saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lexi Primus, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 20 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Sturgeon, who made all 6 shots she took to post 13 points.
Even though they lost, North Knox was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Center Grove entered their tilt with Bloomington North last Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 48-22 margin over the Cougars. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Center Grove's win came from a few key players North Knox will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Grant, who posted 13 points and six steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January. Gracyn Gilliard was another key player, going 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and four steals.
Center Grove's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for North Knox, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Knox has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.1 boards.
