Baseball Recap: Laurel Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Laurel and Neshannock, and Neshannock kept the tradition alive. Laurel fell just short of Neshannock by a score of 9-7 on Monday. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Lancers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kolton Carlson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Connor Mackrell, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Laurel now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Neshannock, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

While Laurel had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
