Basketball Recap: Jakobe Brownlee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grafton over Heritage

On Saturday, the Grafton Clippers ended up a good deal behind the Heritage Hurricanes and lost 80-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Clippers still had to take the loss.

Several Clippers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakobe Brownlee, who posted 19 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Brownlee is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chase Santiago, who had 13 points.

Grafton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Heritage, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grafton will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. One thing working in Grafton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. Heritage will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
