The Monroe Golden Tornadoes stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They really took it to Crisp County for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-22 victory on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-12.
Monroe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Acree is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciarra Lunsford, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Monroe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Crisp County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will square off against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dougherty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 97th). As for Crisp County, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Carver's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Cougars have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
