Franklin Pierce got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'Mire Ford out in front who rushed for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ford got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 73 yards. Jeremiah Orcutt was in the mix as well, providing Franklin Pierce with two TDs.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Adam Cook, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Franklin Pierce's defense and their seven sacks. Bryson Allen was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself. Franklin Pierce received some extra help from Jimmy Amadeo, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Washington and Orting have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Franklin Pierce has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 400.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Washington, though, as they've been averaging only 79.5 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Franklin Pierce against Washington in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
