The Academic Magnet Raptors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 21st straight defeat. They took a hard 52-38 fall against Waccamaw. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Academic Magnet in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Waccamaw got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sutton Cooper out in front who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kettels, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Academic Magnet dropped their record down to 1-22 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Waccamaw, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academic Magnet will face off against the Gators at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Marion is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Waccamaw, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
