Sumner and Olympia are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Spartans will challenge the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sumner is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Sumner proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 12) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yelm, sneaking past 9-7.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Alastra, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Abby Dean was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Alastra wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sumner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Olympia, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They walked away with a 9-6 win over South Kitsap on Monday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Tyler Trujillo was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Crass, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Olympia picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Sumner, their record now sits at 3-0.
Sumner's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Olympia, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sumner continue to outrun the ball?
