Racine Lutheran/Prairie extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Catherine's Angels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Angels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 on Tuesday.
Racine Lutheran/Prairie got a massive performance out of Richard Falaschi, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Jack Hood was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for St. Catherine's, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
On St. Catherine's side, Issac Cantu made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cantu was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Avila, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Findlay Lalor, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Racine Lutheran/Prairie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-4 defeat against Catholic Memorial on the 26th. As for St. Catherine's, they have also already played their next game, a 16-8 loss against Kenosha Christian Life on the 25th.
