Having just played yesterday, the Meridian Hawks will jump right back in to play the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Silver Stallions at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Meridian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 483 points over their last seven matches.
Even though Pana scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Meridian still came out on top. Meridian came out on top in a nail-biter against Pana and snuck past 72-70. Given Meridian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Pana is ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Sebastian Hill, who scored 34 points along with five rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Meridian's points. Another player making a difference was Colton Denny, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Christ Our Rock Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flora.
Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, they have fallen quite a ways from their 30-3 record last season and are now at 4-8.
Meridian suffered a grim 73-52 defeat to Christ Our Rock Lutheran in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Meridian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
