The Belfast Lions will head out to face off against the Camden Hills Windjammers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Belfast will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Belfast came out on top against Oceanside on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mariners a 10-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Jordyn MacKay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Belfast got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Ryan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Maggie Metcalf also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Belfast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Camden Hills). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Lincoln Academy on Monday. The Windjammers have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Like Belfast, Camden Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Thea Laukka. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Laukka was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maya Stone was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Charlotte McGreevy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Belfast's record now sits at 6-0. As for Camden Hills, their record is now 2-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Belfast has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Camden Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
