Firelands is 1-9 against Keystone since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons will host the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m.
Black River hit Firelands with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell 7-2 to the Pirates.
Firelands saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Schrader, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Keystone got the win against Columbia on Monday by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Wildcats have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Modock was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Bristol Foster was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Corinne Lamb, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Keystone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Keystone has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Firelands, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Firelands has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Keystone struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Firelands might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Keystone in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
