The South Hills Scorpions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by Irving 65-18. South Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-10.
Despite the defeat, South Hills saw an underclassman step up: Ava Guerrero scored 8 points. Guerrero scored a full 44.4% of South Hills' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Taliah Martin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds for Irving. The contest was Martin's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Arely Estrada, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
South Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Irving, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
South Hills will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Chapin at 9:30 a.m. on December 2nd. Chapin is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Irving, they will head out on the road to face off against Lamar at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
