Round Lake is 0-10 against Grayslake North since May of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Knights at 4:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Things were looking good for Round Lake after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 7-3 to Elgin. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Piper Berry put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two doubles, and two RBI.
Berry wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Cabral, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Grayslake North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Wauconda.
Like Round Lake, Grayslake North also got a great game from a two-way player: Grace Hoker. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Hoker has allowed since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jane Pritchard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Kendall Joy was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Round Lake's record is now 3-12. As for Grayslake North, their record now sits at 13-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Round Lake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grayslake North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Round Lake might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Grayslake North when the teams last played back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
