The Moriah Vikings stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 74-48 margin over Peru. Given Moriah's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Peru is ranked 745th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cooper Allen was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Scoresome, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Peru saw an underclassman step up: Trenton Taylor scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kobe Harris, who scored eight points.
Moriah's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.9 points. As for Peru, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Moriah will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Plattsburgh at 2:00 p.m. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Peru, they will head out on the road to challenge Northeastern Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern Clinton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
