It was a good run, but the Erie Royals unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 68-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meadville. Erie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Meadville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Meadville was led to victory by Lucas Luteran and Jack Burchard. Luteran scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Burchard scored 27 points along with five assists. Burchard is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Ball, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Erie's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Meadville, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Erie will head out on the road to face off against Dunkirk at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Erie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 346 points over their last five games. As for Meadville, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Harbor Creek at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Harbor Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
