New Fairfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Stratford Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Fairfield will be strutting in after a victory while Stratford will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though New Fairfield has not done well against Notre Dame Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. New Fairfield walked away with a 39-32 victory over Notre Dame Catholic.
Meanwhile, Stratford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Immaculate. While losing is never fun, Stratford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Immaculate is ranked 19th).
New Fairfield pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Stratford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
New Fairfield beat Stratford 48-35 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Fairfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
