The Center Line Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 71-63 victory over Sterling Heights. Given Center Line's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Sterling Heights is ranked 653rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Terez Holmes was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Ashford, who scored nine points along with seven steals and six assists.
Center Line's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Sterling Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Center Line will be playing at home against Clawson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clawson has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Sterling Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Hazel Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
