The Sebastian River Sharks will venture away from home to challenge the Legacy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sebastian River has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Legacy will come in with six straight wins.
Sebastian River lost 3-0 to Martin County on Wednesday.
The final score came out to 25-20, 25-13, 25-13.
Despite the defeat, Sebastian River had strong showings from Elizabeth Bryant, who had three digs and two aces, and Molly Reiman, who had eight digs.
Meanwhile, Legacy got the win against Treasure Coast on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-6, 25-18.
Sebastian River better focus on containing Paisley Woods and Tianna McLeod as the pair were huge in Legacy's win. Woods had nine digs and five assists, while McLeod had six assists and four aces. That's the most aces McLeod has posted over her last three matches. Madison Jurek also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Legacy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in four consecutive matchups.
Legacy's record is now 18-7. As for Sebastian River, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Sebastian River has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sebastian River might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Legacy when the teams last played back in September. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
