The North Point Eagles will take on the Northern Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Point will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Thomas Stone on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 11 runs or more this season.
Zavier Bowman and Khyri Davenport made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bowman struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Davenport struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). At bat, Bowman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Davenport went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Bowman a new career-high.
In other batting news, Anthony Williams and Aiden Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Williams got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Scott went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tristan Roy, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
North Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Patuxent by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Northern saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tony Holson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Connor Renzi was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
North Point is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Northern, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
North Point might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Northern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
