8A District 6 recap October 29, 2013
Bloomingdale moved up to 136 from 171 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 8A District 6. The Bulls climbed the ranks as a result of besting Newsome 24-10.
Plant added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wharton, 46-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Panthers.
Chris Oladokun threw for 272 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 13-20 with 0 interceptions.
Brandon Robinson was the best wideout in the league this week as Alonso topped Riverview. Robinson racked up 4 receptions for 96 yards. Marcus Mosley helped Alonso's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Colby Brown of Plant is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,775. He has also thrown 21 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Robinson. The Alonso star has 25 catches for 572 yards.
Next week's game between Robert Weiner's team and the Ravens will feature a good passing match up as Brown will test his arm against Roosevelt Lawrence's defensive ability.
A big matchup in 8A District 6 this week will be when Alonso takes on the Panthers. Brian Emanuel's team is in fourth place, while Plant is in first place.
