Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Clio's 11th in Last 14 Outings

Clio barely beat New Lothrop the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs never let the Hornets get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Addie Taylor, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep New Lothrop off the board. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Layla Hutchinson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kelcy Sperling, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Clio has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for New Lothrop, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.

Clio and New Lothrop are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Mustangs will challenge Lake Fenton on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clio 2.9, the Blue Devils 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for New Lothrop, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Midland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
