The Berkeley Stags will head out on the road to face off against the Lucy Beckham Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 27 to 3 on the offensive boards, a fact Berkeley proved on Monday. They walked away with a 37-27 win over Hanahan. Given Berkeley's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Hanahan is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Berkeley relied on the efforts of Amani Mccray, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Alaina Carter, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Mccray. Another player making a difference was Madison Thomas, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lucy Beckham came up short against Wando on Saturday and fell 47-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lucy Beckham has scored all season.
Berkeley's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Lucy Beckham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Berkeley beat Lucy Beckham 52-42 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berkeley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
