Ches-Mont - National recap Nov. 7, 2012
Downingtown East extended the longest winning streak in Ches-Mont - National this week by beating Henderson, 6-3. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Cougars.
East moved up to 392 from 432 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of besting Oxford 36-26.
East's dynamic duo of Jon Roberts and Pat Downey proved tough for the Hornets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Roberts threw for 195 yards and one touchdown and Downey had 71 yards receiving. James McKenna helped East's passing attack out by catching five balls for 59 yards.
Tino Bunhu was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 266 yards on 23 carries as Downingtown West topped Oxford. Teammate Mitch Meleski added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Downingtown East's Kyle Lauletta and Chris Beals have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Ches-Mont - National in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Lauletta has thrown for 2078 yards this season, while Beals has 42 catches for 711 yards. The Whippets' Bunhu leads the league in rushing yards with 901.
Downingtown West's Bunhu needs only 99 yards against Ridley next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Mike Matta's team and the Warriors played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Mike Matta's team eventually emerging with a 6-3 victory.
